(DDC) Dreher Dance Company
The Dreher Dance Company is Dreher High School’s pinnacle performance ensemble. Celebrating its 20thyear, DDC was created in 2005, under the direction of Dance Director, Kathleen Lee. This concert stage dance company was created to nurture the artistry of young choreographers, deepen students’ performance quality, and train versatile dance technicians. In 2007, Lee created Dancing with the Teachers which has become one of Dreher’s largest school events of the year! This annual company fundraiser is marked for developing DHS community, while also pairing teachers and students together in a dance competition (where votes can be bought). Funds raised send company members to New York City for additional dance training every other year (at such studios as Alvin Ailey, Broadway Dance Center and Steps). With the growth of DDC, dance captain position was instituted in 2012. In 2016, the company joined the Dreher Marching Band adding unison sideline pom dance performances to their repertoire at home football games and serving as the non-traditional color guard during the competitive marching band season. Since signing on as the Band’s choreographer, the Dreher Blue Devil Marching Band has consistently progressed in competitive standing each year; most recently winning the 2024 SCBDA Lower State Championship and placing 2nd in the SCBDA STATE Championship. In addition to traveling to New York, the company has performed in Disney’ World’s Magic Kingdom, Universal Studios, numerous school and community events and parades. DDC is a year-round commitment with auditions annually in May.
